Twinkling Lights at Dusk

Back to February 2004

Twinkling lights in looking towards the CBD from the south after dusk. A slightly more productive day, with some work (project mockups), games (Raven Shield), a bike ride (to the local Indian take-away store), and a Linux kernel upgrade (2.6.1-stable).

Hey Jaani, Nicole Lynch from melb uni showed me this site. top work. great articles and your photo work is very nice also. what sorta camera are you using? interested in starting my own blog. any tips? mite see you around the politics or philosophy dept if you ever around that part of the uni. cheers, michael

Hi Michael, Glad you like the site. The articles are several years old, so I should probably remove them before I reach that stage of life that brings with it a morbid self-consciousness of the idiotic worldviews I have expounded to date. The camera I use is a Sony DSCF717. It's a good, reliable, prosumer level digital camera. Specs are fairly good, for the money. I bring it with me to uni nearly every day, so if I see you around some time remind me to show it to you. On the matter of blogs: be warned, they are addictive. Though I don't get time to update this site nearly as much as I would like, there's something very pleasing about spouting opinions to the world - so much the better if someone is actually listening (believe it or not, I get 5-10k hits per month). In my experience, the best ways to maintain a regular readership are to either cater to a local audience (ie, friends, people of that know [of] you), or focus upon a specific topic area (in my case, cyberlaw). It's tempting to post random/cool stuff, but I refrain. After all, a (legal) blog is the kind of thing you could list on a CV some time, especially if it becomes well known. Though I rarely venture into the Arts faculty, I'll keep an eye out. Best of luck.
